UBA National Essay Competition 2023 Registration Portal: The 2023 UBA Essay Competition invites entries from Nigerian Senior Secondary school students. The deadline for submissions is October 20th, 2023.

This initiative, stemming from the UBA Foundation’s dedication to the promotion of literacy and intellectual development, endeavors to enhance the reading culture amongst the youth. Furthermore, it provides a platform for these bright minds to engage in healthy, intellectually stimulating competition not just within Nigeria, but spanning the African continent.

The annual National Essay Competition, designed for senior secondary students in Nigeria, is part of the UBA Foundation’s education initiative. It strives to foster a reading culture and stimulate intellectual competition among secondary school students in Nigeria and throughout Africa.

In its 12th year, the National Essay Competition serves as a competitive platform for enhancing the intellectual and writing skills of senior secondary school students in Nigeria. Winners receive educational grants to pursue studies at any African University of their choosing.

The UBA Foundation National Essay Competition’s topic explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on human intelligence. Participants are tasked with discussing whether AI will surpass human intelligence and suggesting measures students can take to ensure AI enhances rather than overrides their learning abilities through research.

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition Eligibility

Candidates:

Must be in senior secondary school Must submit a handwritten essay (750 words MAX) Must submit a passport photograph Must submit a copy of a birth certificate, National ID, or Passport

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition Prizes

The first prize for the UBA National Essay Competition is an N5 million educational grant to any African University of their choice, while the second and third prizes are N3 million and N2.5 million in educational grants to African Universities, respectively.

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition Selection Procedure

Entries received for the competition will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges made up of professors from reputable Nigerian Universities who will then shortlist 12 essays for further assessment. Following this, a second round of competition will involve the 12 finalists who will write a second superior essay from which three best essays will be selected as the overall winners from the 12 finalists

How to Apply UBA National Essay Competition

Applicant must submit their completed contact information (Name, Age, School, Address of school, Telephone Number, Residential Address, and Email Address). Applicants must attach photocopies of their original birth certificates or international passport data pages. Applicants must upload a handwritten essay on the portal.
